Create Amazing Titles and Meta Descriptions for Your Squarespace Website

If you're looking for ways to improve your Squarespace website, you may want to consider using AI-based copywriting tools. These tools can help you create amazing page titles and descriptions that will increase the click through rate to your website. Jarvis (now rebranded as Jasper) is a great example of an AI-based copywriting tool that can help you write compelling content for your website. In this article, we will discuss how to use Jarvis to create amazing titles and meta descriptions for your Squarespace website.

Why Well Written Page Titles and Meta Page Descriptions are Super Important

It's really tempting to let your SEO plugin, like Yoast, or website platform, like Squarespace, write your page titles and meta page descriptions for you using the default settings. These are usually the page or post title and the first few lines of text from the main page content. This is better than nothing but let's take a look at how they can be so much better when written with a goal in mind.

Set Goals for Your Page Titles and Meta Page Descriptions

You need to think about what the goal is for any particular web page. To demonstrate this, let's use a real life example of a page title and meta description I wrote recently.

The page in questions is the page on a local community magazines advertising page. The main goal of the page is to attract and convert potential visitors to advertise in the magazine. Here’s the original;

Pretty good but it could be improved. It feels like it’s missing that compelling message, I’m not sure I’d feel immediately compelled to click on this and as a result may start looking down the search results at the other options. What we need is a bit more oomph (technical SEO term) and maybe a unique selling point, here’s what I suggest (with a little help from Jarvis!);

Whilst Google doesn’t always use your page title and meta description in it’s search results (it often creates it’s own, usually from your on page content), the better it is and the higher your CTR (click through rate) the more likely they are to use it. When they do use it, you have to make it stand out, make it compelling. In this case, if I’m searching for local advertising in Hampshire for my business, I’m going to be interested and click through to find out more. That’s your goal and that’s how having well written page titles and descriptions should be your first consideration when optimising your Squarespace, or any other, website.

What is Jarvis.ai and How Does it Work?

Here's how Jarvis is described on their website;

"The Future Of Writing

Artificial intelligence makes it fast & easy to create content for your blog, social media, website, and more! Rated 5/5 stars in 3,000+ reviews."

and

"Your AI Content Co-Pilot Is Ready To Write For You

Stop spending so much time writing blog articles, social media posts, and sales emails... let Jasper write for you."

In a nutshell, Jarvis uses artificial intelligence to write content. To do this it uses templates that have specific use cases. In this instance we are going to use their "Blog Posts - Title and Meta Descriptions" template to write the page title and meta page description for this Squarespace blog article.

This is how the Jarvis website describes the template we are going to use;

"Write SEO optimized title tags and meta descriptions for blog posts that will rank well on Google."

Perfect, let's get started.

Reviewing the Jarvis Page Title and Description Outputs

Output #1 sounds a bit too much like an ad for Jarvis.ai so I'm going with option #2 as I feel that Jarvis has pretty much nailed it with this one. You can always generate more outputs from Jarvis so if you don’t see anything you like you can create more. Sometimes I find that one of them is perfect, other times I might blend a few together to get something I like.

Let’s see what what this would look like in Google search using a visual snippet optimiser tool.

Visualise Your Page Titles and Descriptions

I like to use an online tool to visualise my optimised page titles and descriptions but also check that they are within the pixel length limits recommended by Google. The SERP Snippet Optimization Tool from highervisibility is perfect for this.

Here’s what Output #2 from Jarvis looks like using the tool;

You’ll notice that Jarvis has output a title that’s too long but that’s cool because I want to change the last bit to Mountain SEO from Squarespace SEO so that actually fixes that problem. I’m not worried that the page title is highlighted as being too long in this instance as it’s a blog post. We’ve actually got a bit of room to add some text but I’m actually happy with it as is.

Important note: Be aware that Jarvis will exceed the recommended length for title and page descriptions using this tool. Whilst this is a little odd, it’s also kind of useful as these to get the best results you always need oversight. Use the tool to generate ideas and inspire your creativity and then fine tune and optimise it in the Optimisation Tool shown above. With a little bit of effort you will be writing amazing page titles and meta page descriptions for your website.

Add Your Amazing New Page Titles and Descriptions to Your Squarespace Pages

One last step - adding your optimised content to your Squarespace website pages. Go to your page settings for your web page or blog post, select the SEO section and add your content as shown below.

Finally, I’ve shown you how to add this search engine optimised content to your Squarespace website.

Yes, you could save some time by not doing this and you’d probably have some okay titles and descriptions, but okay just doesn’t cut it if your want your site to excel. SEO is all about attention to detail, get the details right and the rest will take care of itself.
